Clothes? On or Off - Krisleen Jones Photography.
Yes, I am a modest sort of woman. I always have been, I seem to be programmed that way. I don’t tell anyone else what to do, but you’ll never catch me wearing yoga pants in public. A maxiskirt will be just fine, thank you.
Knowing that, you might wonder why I am writing an article about Photography by Krisleen. Krisleen Jones does boudoir photography, as well as pin-up and cosplay photography. I understand why a person might want a professional headshot or some fun pictures in costumes, but what is the use of pictures in lingerie? Who can you show them to?
I put this question to Krisleen, and she had an intriguing answer. She told me a story about a difficult time of her life and how she no longer felt beautiful and confident. Krisleen’s work is more than just pretty pictures. She coaches women on how to feel more confident in our own bodies.
She assured me that her work is not about taking off clothes, but rather about bringing out the individual beauty of the woman.
You can read about her philosophy here. She's more than just a photographer. She's also a confidence coach!
Kristen invited me to try it out, so I made an appointment. I drove out to her studio with a suitcase of my favorite dresses.
Now I don't particularly dislike photographs of myself, but I usually find the process to be tedious. Whether it's a selfie, event photographs or headshots, I am usually bored and anxious to get the whole thing over with.
This time was different. It was fun!
We started with some photographs for my business cards, namely me and some cars. (For those who are not familiar, I work as an auto broker). Krisleen somehow managed to overcome a windswept, sunny afternoon and my lack of neck flexibility to produce this fun pictures!
From there, we went in and started to play with her vast collection of props. Did you know she has an ENTIRE ROOM filled with pretty clothes & shoes for her clients? I could’ve spent the entire day in there, but eventually she put me in the dressing room and told me to pick out one of the dresses I had brought.
And with that, we began the indoor photo session. Keep reading for the results!
Take a look at these portraits! It reminds me of the old-fashioned paintings that had items in them so you could tell something about the subject. For example, I like to sew and you can see an old-fashioned dress form Krisleen put in the frame!
Then we moved on to the Hat! Krisleen picked out a combination of my green dress, a jacket from the prop room and a top hat. I never even envisioned a photograph like this one, but that’s why I leave these things to the experts.
You can tell how much fun I was having, can't you? The photo session was fun and I enjoyed the process, as well as the results. I love costumes and quirky fashion, and I can tell Krisleen does too. A lot of women don't like having their pictures taken, but she makes it fun and she produces beautiful results, maxiskirt or no maxiskirt.
