About Bonnie:
Bonnie Simon Bellefy was an ordinary married office worker in Cleveland, Ohio until the life she expected to live was derailed in 2008. Her husband unexpectedly passed away at the age of 45, sending Bonnie on a journey of the unexpected. “If Life isn’t going to hold up its end of the bargain then neither am I!” And with that she moved to Colorado, quit her steady job in the middle of a recession and began exploring what kind of life she wanted to live.
Her new life included a flock of backyard chickens from the start. Those intrepid yard birds helped her make sense of life, death, and her persistent question of “Why am I still here?” The chickens inspired a book called Setting the Wastebasket on Fire; When Chickens Bloom in the Widow’s Garden.
Bonnie began a surprisingly meaningful career as an auto broker in 2019, helping women avoid going to dealerships, where they often feel uncomfortable, and helping them get the right vehicle for their needs.
Bonnie enjoys making the process easy and fun for her clients. After all, if you’re going to spend tens of thousands of dollars on something, it should be at least a little bit fun!
These days, Bonnie lives in Colorado with her delightful husband and a menagerie of animals that includes cats, dogs, doves and, of course, chickens.
This is the only photo we got of our wedding! Curious why? Here's a blog post!
